PROCESS AND TERMINOLOGY

WEAR
We use this term to describe the visual "spider-webbing" effect when you look across the surface of your vehicle.  These are fine scratches in the clearcoat or paint.  Driving through a car wash is the quickest way to create turmoil on the finish.

COMPOUND (S)
These are the products we use to aid us in the buffing and polishing stages.  There are many levels of aggressiveness we use depending on the severity and finish we are trying to achieve.  Our brand of choice is 3M's Perfect-it 3000 Series.

PASTE WAX
We can't hardly skimp here!  If you decide to use any of our buffing procedures we always use a great paste wax for the most durable, deep and long lasting finish!

MULTI - STAGE BUFFING / PROCESS
This refers to the many stages that are available by us to acquire the best finish...every car & it's owner have different wants & needs.  GorillaShine can customize a buffing program / process and tell you what stages are needed in order to achieve the desired look you want!

Stage 1 - WET SANDING / COLOR SANDING (1500-2000 Grit)
Depending on your wants, GorillaShine can go deep into the multi-stage process and really bring a car to life.  We can actually wet sand your clear coat and bring it up through the compounding process.  The results are amazing and usually used when a car has a tremendous amount of "ware" , fine scratches or heavy oxidation on the surface.

Stage 2 - SCRATCH REFINMENT (3000 Trizact) -  A GorillaShine speciality!!
This is a GorillaShine unique specialty!  A majority of the time wet sanding procedures are simply sanded with 1500 grit and then just buffed up from there.  The problem with this technique is that while it may pass on initial delivery of your car, shortly after you'll see the lack of attention showing through!
This process is necessary if a wet sanding process is elected.   It reduces initial sanding scratches by 50% making our buffing job come out easier and with amazing results.

Stage 3 - CUT / CUTTING  ( Machine Compounding)
This would be the first stage and the most aggressive, if needed when the process begins.  We use a "heavy cut" compound along with a wool "cut" pad  on medium RPM to stir up the surface and make things uniform.  It's used on a vehicle with a fair amount of "wear" or if someone is simply looking to get a great finish.
NOTE: If you cut/buff your paint it must be polished and waxed to eliminate swirling!  This is the most common mistake of amateurs, and some detail shops as well!

Stage 4 - POLISH ( Machine Polishing)
This process is two fold...it's a process that can simply be used to enhance a car's finish, or as a part of the multi-stage buffing process.  This is one of the last stages before waxing. When properly used this minimizes swirls.

Stage 5 - SWIRL REMOVER (Machine Swirl Elimination)
This process is the end of the road and is often overlooked, neglected or just an unknown part of the normal buffing process used by other detailing companies.  At GorillaShine...we never compromise, we always finish every job with this product and process.  It is the key....let me say that again, it's the key to a professional buffing job.   See before & after Multi-Stage photos here!

GORILLASHINE'S THEORY OF PROCESS

Through research, hands down the biggest difference with our company is the effort put forth in training our employees and use of the best products, tools & applications possible!

Many people try unsuccessfully everyday to "buff" their cars.  This is a process that requires much understanding about how and why products, tools & techniques are used, most of which the weekend warrior doesn't know much about.

-Training

-Preparation

-Tools

-Products

-Time

This is what makes the difference... and this is how we provide our service!  "Excellent results are not just by chance".

A STORY...about the pictures to the right.

A customer requested the removal of about 30 spots of hard, dry tree sap on the hood of their Tahoe.

We tried several less evasive processes before we ultimately ended up wet sanding the sap off and polishing the hood to an amazing finish!

Our client was blown away by the results and has been a customer for over two years now.

The cost...$150 (Hood only)
